Nebraska native Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba appeared on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" Tuesday night to promote their new show "L.A.'s Finest," and Union told the story about her husband meeting her father.
Union is married to Dwyane Wade, who just retired from the NBA.
"Did he win your parents over right away?" Corden asked.
Union said she "had been married before (spoiler alert), and I had to write some checks after that one, so my dad was like watching the wallet. He was like, 'Well, what do you want with her? She's got her own life, she's got her own house, she's got her own stuff. What are you bringing to the table?'"
According to Union, Wade said: "Have you googled me, sir? Um, three championships, I do OK. I've got dental."

Dad's response at the end? "If you'll commit to being a Nebraska Cornhusker fan, I'll let you in the family."
"We have not missed a home opener yet. Go Big Red!" Union told Corden.
The actress said Wade's adjustment to retirement has been eye-opening, and she's had to teach him some basic life skills. "He has no idea what's happening."
"It's like he's just come out of a coma," Corden said.
