Although winter sometimes makes us want to curl up next to the fire and read a great book, there are so many great shows and events coming up that staying in is not an option.
In conjunction with the exhibition “Table Manners: Art and Food,” Sheldon Museum of Art is serving its spring semester First Fridays in four courses — February, Appetizers; March, Soup and Salad; April, Main Course; and May, Dessert, from 5 to 7 p.m. the first Friday of the month. Go to SheldonArtMuseum.org for more information.
On Charter Day, Feb. 15, the University of Nebraska will celebrate its 150th anniversary with N150: A Celebration of Music and Milestone at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts. At this special event, host Jeff Zeleny, University of Nebraska alum, native Nebraskan and senior White House correspondent for CNN, will guide the audience through some the university’s major accomplishments.
A full orchestra, a chorus, a men’s chorus, University Opera, the Husker Marching Band and significant alumni will make appearances throughout the evening. The production will seamlessly integrate multimedia and projection, sound and lighting in an impressive tribute to the university.
February also ushers in Rodgers and Hammerstein's the King and I (Feb 1-2), the amazing Chris Botti (Feb. 7), My Ántonia (Feb. 7-9), classical piano by Emanuel Ax (Feb. 10), Dutchman (Feb. 13-24) and Tim Allen (Feb. 23). Tickets available at LiedCenter.org.
