Dr. Brian Moore, University of Nebraska-Lincoln music education and technology professor, was the keynote speaker at the Lincoln Music Teachers Association's fall kickoff meeting and pot luck luncheon Sept. 12 at Fellowship Community Church in Lincoln.
Moore presented "Music Literacy and Composition at Goodrich Middle School and Your Private Studio." He spoke about an educational pilot project at Goodrich and Moore Middle Schools involving music composition with technology using electronic keyboards, iPads and the power of peer involvement.
This academic year, LMTA workshops will deal with creative composition. There will be a composition contest among teachers and students that will culminate in a Winners Recital in 2019. All entered compositions will be published in a special LMTA Volume that will be available to the public.
LMTA holds monthly meetings with an educational component and sponsors activities for members and students. LMTA welcomes teachers in all fields. If interested, inquire at the "Contact Us" button of www.LMTA.info.
LMTA also offers lessons to children who could not otherwise afford them. If you are interested in becoming a program teacher and wish to nominate a qualifying student, email MOP@LMTA.info.
