Over 250 guests packed the Country Club of Lincoln Feb. 2 and raised $30,000 to support Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra.
“The money will be used to support LSO’s budget, including our education and outreach activities,” said LSO Executive Director Barbara Zach.
After guests enjoyed a cocktail hour and dinner, a program featured Concertmaster Anton Miller performing violin with the orchestra and special selections with Music Director Edward Polochick on piano. Zach commissioned one piece, “The Keys to Your House,” by British composer Errollyn Wallen for piano and violin to celebrate Polochick’s and Miller’s longtime collaboration.
Other compositions performed by the 44-member LSO at the gala were “A Salute to Richard Rodgers” by Richard Rodgers, arranged by Ricketts; “Violin Sonata No. 5” by Beethoven; “Shon Rosmarin” by Ritz Kreisler, arranged by McAlister; “Tambourin Chinois” by Kreisler, arranged by McAlister; “Liebesfreud” by Kreisler, arranged by McAlister; “Lakme: Sous le dome epais” by Leo Delibes; “Norma: Mira, a Norma” by Vincenzo Bellini; and “Rodeo: Hoedown” by Aaron Copland.
