Why not spend an afternoon with some of the finest young people in the land performing the music of the finest composers in classical music history? This event is Sunday, April 15, at 3 p.m. in the East High School auditorium. The 75-member Lincoln Youth Symphony will perform music by Bach, Brahms, Beethoven (also known as “The Three B’s”) and the Concerto No. 21 for Piano and Orchestra by Mozart.
Soloist will be Erik Strickland, who is in the double-bass section most of the year, but here shows his piano prowess. The percussion section also will be featured in an arrangement of "Aquarium" from Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens.
The event is free and open to the public. The remaining concert for the 2018 season will be Thursday, April 19, 7 p.m. at Irving Middle School. For more information on LYS, visit www.lincolnyouthsymphony.org.
