The 30th anniversary of the Keelan Family & Friends Christmas concert will be marked Saturday, Dec. 22, with a 7:15 p.m. show at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 40th and C streets.
Malley Keelan, founder of the series, said the concert features volunteer performers and donates all proceeds to a chosen beneficiary. This year's recipient is Freed for Life, an outreach to help ex-prisoners and a current prison ministry. Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home will mark its 15th year as the event's sponsor, helping with production expenses.
Award-winning actress/writer Pippa White will return as co-host and offer a special reading. Keelan, the music director and an occasional singer soloist, will direct the Holiday Concert Singers, and soloists Ken Hoppmann, Sandy Van Pelt and Jim Kula will all be assisted by accompanists Jan Malone, Julie Cross and Carolyn Dow.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; children 12 and under, $2. Overflow parking is available at Butherus, Maser & Love, one block south.
The show will be dedicated to the late Gil Savery, whose daughter, Pam, will read one of her father's essays about Christmas.
