The Mayor’s Arts Awards has become a much-anticipated yearly celebration to recognize Lincoln’s rich artistic diversity. Each year, the community gives recognition to achievement in all artistic mediums, from educational excellence to urban design, from organizational, volunteer and philanthropic dedication to the arts, to arts organizations and outstanding arts events.
Do you know a loyal, philanthropic supporter of the local art scene? Do you know an art teacher or dedicated volunteer who works tirelessly making great art in Lincoln happen? Have you attended an exceptional arts event this year? Has an urban design project brought beauty to the city and community? Do you know an arts organization that has contributed to the vibrant Lincoln arts community for years?
You are invited to nominate a person, organization or project for recognition at the 41st Mayor’s Arts Awards in May 2019. The mayor, along with the Lincoln Arts Council, will honor our local arts champions selected by a panel of community professionals.
It’s not too early to think about your candidate. The deadline is Dec. 18, and you may submit your choice using the online form at https://artscene.submittable.com/submit. There you will find the award categories and descriptions, a nomination form and past award winners.
You are also encouraged to submit names and photos of members of the Lincoln arts community who have died since the last awards ceremony in May.
The Mayor’s Arts Awards event has grown to a record crowd of over 500. Next year will mark the third year the ceremony will take place on the main floor of the Pinnacle Bank Arena. This speaks strongly that Lincoln is a city that supports creativity and growing the arts in our community.
