Lloyd McCarter and The Honky Tonk Revival will release “Immortal For Now,” its first album in five years, Friday at the Zoo Bar.

Based on a couple of listens at Fuse Recording, where the disc was recorded, produced and mixed, I can report that “Immortal For Now” is filled with classic country songs -- about drinking, driving trucks, etc. -- that are well-played and sung superbly by the deep-voiced McCarter, who also makes a return to steel guitar on the record.

I’ll have a proper review of “Immortal For Now” soon, as the finished CDs weren’t available before Ground Zero press time. But I can already say that it’s the best yet from McCarter and one of the best Lincoln country records that I can remember hearing.

Wendy and The Lost Boys, led by Wendy Jane Bantam, who just released her album “Summer Devil” will open the 9 p.m. show. Cover charge is $5.
