Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour” will perform at the Pinnacle Bank Arena on June 24 and 25.

The shows will be the first performances by Cirque du Soleil in Lincoln. Cirque du Soleil is the world’s largest theatrical producer. It created its first shows that blend circus arts and street performance in 1984 and now has multiple touring troupes and permanent shows in Las Vegas.

Since its world premiere in Montreal in October 2011, “Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour” has played across North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East. The tour is among the top 10 highest-grossing music tours of all time.

“Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour,” which is co-presented by Michael Jackson’s estate, is something of a departure from the company’s previous touring shows because it is presented in a rock concert format with dancers, musicians and acrobats interpreting Jackson’s music. The music is taken from Jackson's original recordings from the Jackson 5 and throughout his solo career.

Tickets for Cirque du Soleil go on sale at 10 a.m. April 24. Tickets will range in price from $45 to $150 and will be available at cirquedusoleil.com/MichaelJackson, Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. Presale to Cirque Club members begins Friday. More information on Cirque Club is available at cirqueclub.com.

Cirque du Soleil joins “Jesus Christ Superstar” on July 30 as theatrical shows coming to the arena. Those kind of shows were anticipated to be in the arena’s mix of offerings. Because those tours schedule months in advance, the performances will take place in the arena’s 10th and 11th month.

An announcement of a major concert at the arena is expected next week.
