Judah & The Lion will play Pinewood Bowl on Aug. 14.
The Nashville trio that blends bluegrass, hip-hop beats, rock and pop into its version of alternative folk will be stopping in Lincoln early on the North American leg of its “Pep Talks Worldwide Tour” that begins Aug. 10 in Kansas City.
The tour takes its name from “Pep Talks,” the trio’s third album, which is scheduled for release May 3. The album includes the previously released singles “Over my head,” “Quarter-Life Crisis,” “Pep Talks” and last week’s critically acclaimed “pictures,” featuring Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves. Those singles have garnered more than 2 million streams.
Judah & The Lion, which takes its name from a Bible passage, formed in 2011 at Nashville’s Belmont University, where it won the Christian Showcase the next year. It broke through with 2016’s “Folk Hop n Roll”
Tickets for Judah & The Lion’s Pinewood show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Tickets are $35 to $69 and will be available at the Pinnacle Bank Arena ticket office, ticketmaster.com and by phone at 800-745-3000.
The Judah & The Lion concert is the sixth show announced for Pinewood Bowl this summer. The other five are: The Avett Brothers, May 17; Kidz Bop, June 16; Jon Bellion, July 24; Tenacious D, July 28 and “Weird Al” Yankovic, July 31. The Nebraska Folk & Roots Festival also will take place at Pinewood on June 15. Its lineup has not yet been announced.
Pinewood Bowl is expected to host 10 to 15 concerts from May through September, along with the annual musical in July.
