Under the direction of Mike Murphy and Lance Nielsen, the community band will present "Sounds of the Season," a free concert featuring holiday music.

2. MUSIC: Clutch with Devin Townsend Project, The Obsessed and Sons of Texas, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Bourbon Theatre, 1415 O St.

Maryland Southern-tinged hard rockers Clutch are trying out some new material on stage before they hit the studio to record in January. That makes for a fresh show for both the audience and the slamming band.

3. MUSIC: "The Holiday Cabaret," 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, 2 p.m. next Sunday, Studio Theatre, Temple Building, 12th and R streets.

The Nebraska Repertory Theatre begins a new holiday tradition with a cabaret featuring local and guest artists, including the Lakeshore Dolls from Chicago.

4. FILM: "Star Wars: The Last Jedi," opens Thursday, various theaters.

The latest installment of the "Star Wars" saga that "unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past" is sure to blow the doors off the box office through the holiday season. 

5. THEATER: "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," 2 p.m. Sunday, Saturday-next Sunday, 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Lincoln Community Playhouse, 2500 S. 56th St.

What's become a Playhouse tradition of sorts, Barbara Robinson's endearing comedy tells the story about what happens when the Herdmans, the most awful kids in school, take over the leading roles in the church pageant.
