The Lincoln Stamp Club will host LINPEX 2014, a public stamp show, on Saturday, February 22, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, February 23, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. LINPEX will be held in the Omaha Room at Country Inn and Suites, 5353 N. 27th St., Lincoln. Admission and parking are free. The entrance to the show is barrier-free.
LINPEX will feature a bourse, including seven dealers and the U.S. Postal Service. Show visitors may browse and buy mint and used U.S. and worldwide stamps, postal history, and Liberia-themed postal material. The USPS Station will have a special show cancel that can be used on any outgoing mail.
The show also offers no-cost evaluations of collections that members of the public may bring to show to knowledgeable Club members. The young and young at heart alike are welcome to spend hours digging through thousands of loose stamps at the Beginners’ Table, where each stamp cost children a penny, while adults pay a nickel.
Information tables will introduce the American Philatelic Society, the Lincoln Stamp Club, the Postal History Society, the United States Stamp Society, and the Vatican Philatelic Society. A judged competition of philatelic exhibits will entertain and educate, showing how collectors’ topics cover a wide diversity of interests, including leopards, dental hygiene, honey bees, mourning letters, and the Purple Heart.
