Hudl, Edward Jones and Schemmer Associates have been named the Best Places to Work in Lincoln in 2016.
Sponsored in Lincoln by Woods & Aitken LLP, the Lincoln Journal Star and the Lincoln Human Resources Management Association, the Best Places to Work awards come from research and employee surveys by Quantum Workplace of Omaha. The measurements especially reward employee engagement.
Financial services firm Edward Jones, competing in the medium-sized business category for companies with 51 to 150 employees, won the award for the third year in a row.

Schemmer Associates, an architecture, design and engineering firm, was a first-time winner in the small-business category for companies employing up to 50 people.
Hudl won the award in the large business category for firms with more than 150 employees. The sports video-editing software company won the award in the medium-sized business category in 2013.
For the first time, the contest also included a Community Impact Award to honor a company that goes above and beyond when it comes to charitable donations and volunteer work.
The award went to Firespring, a marketing communications company that dedicates 3 percent of its profits to charitable causes. The company also requires employees to do 96 hours of volunteer work a year and gives them a paid day off each month to devote to charitable causes.
The winners, as well as four other top workplaces in each category, were honored Wednesday at a luncheon at The Cornhusker Marriott Hotel. The Journal Star on Sunday will publish a supplement describing the competition and the finalists.
