Six Lincoln-based companies made this year's Inc. 5000 list of the country's fastest-growing companies, one fewer than last year.
Leading the way was law firm Hilgers Graben, which came in at 1,106 with three-year revenue growth of 447 percent. It was the firm's second-straight year making the list.
Hilgers Graben, which is led by state Sen. Mike Hilgers, has offices in Lincoln, Omaha, Denver and Dallas. It just announced an expansion of its Lincoln office that nearly doubled the size of its space in Fallbrook.
Hilgers said the firm now has seven employees in Lincoln and nearly 20 overall. He said being based in Lincoln has been a main reason for the firm's rapid growth because it is able to recruit and retain talented, experienced lawyers while also offering lower fees for its services than firms based in places like Chicago or New York.
Other local firms were much farther down on the list.
Bulu, which provides sample boxes of nutritional supplements, came in at 3,486. Like Hilgers Graben, this was Bulu's second-straight year making the list.
A newcomer to the list was CapStone Technologies, which makes robots for mail-handling operations. The company ranked 3,598th.
The other Lincoln-based companies on the list are Vivayic, which provides consulting and training services, at 3,666; Berry Law Firm, at 3,677; and Gongs Unlimited, which sells — what else — gongs, at 3,689. It was Vivayic's third-straight time on the list and Berry Law's second.
Overall, there were 24 Nebraska companies on the list, with the other 18 all coming from the Omaha area, including one in Fremont.
Omaha-based IT management company Flywheel was the highest-ranking Nebraska company on the list, coming in at 344.
