Restaurant delivery app Waitr has announced it is expanding to Lincoln starting on Thursday.

Another food delivery app is set to enter the crowded Lincoln market.

Waitr announced Monday that it will start offering delivery in Lincoln and other Nebraska cities on Thursday.

Waitr says it offers a $5 flat fee on all orders, regardless of its size or the customer’s distance from the restaurant.

Waitr is already available in more than 250 cities in more than a dozen states, and it said it accelerated its growth plans in Lincoln due to the response from area restaurants.

According to the company, more than 70 Lincoln restaurants have signed up to use the app, and Waitr said it plans to hire approximately 100 local delivery drivers to meet demand.

Waitr will offer free deliveries through May 31 for customers who use the promo code “GOBIGRED” at checkout.

The company also is hosting a launch party at the 48th and O streets Chick-fil-A on Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The first 100 people ordering from this Chick-fil-A location using Waitr on launch day get a free six-piece nuggets.

To learn more about the company, sign up for the app or apply to be a driver, go to: www.waitrapp.com.

Other restaurant services already available in Lincoln include Grubhub, DoorDash, EatStreet, Uber Eats and locally owned Metro Dining Delivery.
