NebraskaLink, a Lincoln-based broadband service provider for businesses, plans to expand its fiber-optic network throughout the city of Lincoln.

NebraskaLink, which has more than 2,000 miles of fiber in rural communities throughout the state, entered into an agreement with the city in February 2013 to lease the city’s fiber-optic conduit grid. The initial construction consisted of burying approximately 20 miles of fiber-optic lines throughout the city. After recently securing financing from Union Bank and Trust, the company said it will bury an additional 40 miles of fiber by the end of 2014, with additional growth planned in 2015.

NebraskaLink also announced that it recently signed a 10-year lease commitment and relocated its corporate headquarters to 3900 N.W. 12th St., Suite 100.
