Trader Joe’s made it official at Monday’s City Council meeting.
An official from the California-based specialty grocery chain told council members that the company will be opening a store in Lincoln in November at 3120 Pine Lake Road just east of SouthPointe Pavilions.
An announcement had been expected for several weeks, ever since Trader Joe’s filed an application with the state for a liquor license. Company officials had not publicly acknowledged plans for the store until Monday.
The City Council on Monday approved that liquor license application.
According to documents filed as part of the liquor license application process, the Lincoln Trader Joe’s store will be about 13,000 square feet, with retail floor space of about 10,000 square feet.
Councilman Jon Camp said a Trader Joe’s official, Joseph English, told the council the store will employ 60 to 70 people.
