Over the past few years, Hy-Vee has added clothing boutiques, fitness centers, restaurants, clinics and gas stations to many of its stores, including some in Lincoln.
However, its latest nongrocery endeavor is occurring off the premises.
Hy-Vee this week opened a Patio & Grill Outlet inside the Kelly's Carpet & Furniture store at 4615 Vine St.
Among the items advertised in a flier that ran in the Journal Star are an $800 Traeger grill, a $700 outdoor sectional, a $250 three-piece wicker bar set and a steel glider for $80.
"Hy-Vee stores wanted to expand their offerings and provide the opportunity for customers to choose from a wider array of patio furniture, grills, outdoor lighting and other warm-weather products in a dedicated space where the products could be displayed vs. in boxes," Christina Gayman, director of public relations for the Iowa-based grocer, said in an email.
Lincoln is one of three markets where the stores have opened. Hy-Vee also opened outlets at Shadow Lake Town Center in Papillion and at a mall in Davenport, Iowa.
