Home store appears to have found home in former Lincoln Shopko

It looks like a new-to-Lincoln retailer will be filling the former Shopko space at 27th Street and Pine Lake Road.

At Home, a store that sells home furnishings, is advertising on its website for a store director for a Lincoln store at 6845 S. 27th St.

Neither At Home nor Realty Trust Group, the Lincoln company that owns the building, could be reached for comment on the possible store or when it might open.

At Home refers to itself as the "Home Decor Superstore" and says on its website that it carries more than 50,000 unique items across product categories that include furniture, garden, housewares and seasonal decor.

The Texas-based company has nearly 200 stores nationwide, including ones in Omaha and Council Bluffs. The Council Bluffs store opened last year in a former Shopko location.

The 120,000-square-foot Shopko store at 27th and Pine Lake Road closed last month, along with the other two remaining Shopkos in Lincoln, after the company declared bankruptcy and announced plans to go out of business by the end of June.

At Home won't be the only new business coming to the development on the northwest corner of 27th and Pine Lake Road. Aspen Dental filed a building permit last week for a new location there.

According to plans filed with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Department last month, two other new buildings are planned for the mixed-use development, which also includes a Walgreens, Union Bank & Trust and a medical office building.
