Jay Wilkinson remembers that when Andrew Tuzson and his wife moved their Denver-area marketing and creative business, Evol Empire Creative, to Lincoln in 2016, they "made a pretty big splash."
"I remember thinking, 'Holy crap, this agency is moving fast,'" said Wilkinson, CEO of Firespring, a marketing agency that provides print, digital and other services to businesses and non-profits .
Over the next year or so, the two companies worked together on some projects, which led them to learn they had a lot in common.
That led to discussions of working together a lot more — as in combining their companies — which culminated in the acquisition of Evol Empire by Firespring.
“Evol is stoked to be joining a company that not only shares the same strategically creative passion, but is also deeply devoted to creating positive impact in our community," Tuzson said.
Terms of the acquisition, which was finalized last week, were not disclosed.

Evol Empire, along with the bulk of its employees, was absorbed into Firespring. Tuzson will become the company's vice president of creative.
He'll work closely with Christopher Kingsley, whose company, 42, merged with Firespring in 2015.
"I've just been blown away by the quality of (Evol Empire's) work," said Kingsley, who is Firespring's chief creative officer.
Tuzson said he was attracted specifically to Firespring's commitment to the community. The company is a Certified B Corp. that donates 3 percent of its profits to charity, and it has won the Best Places to Work Community Impact Award two out of the past three years.
Both Firespring and Evol Empire have been named best places to work nationally by Inc. magazine.
Tuzson said those shared qualities drew him to Firespring "like a moth to a flame."
