Outdoors retailer Cabela’s Inc. has entered into an agreement with the U.S Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to strengthen and improve its hiring and recruiting practices of minorities.
Among the actions the Sidney-based company has agreed to take are hiring a director of diversity and inclusion; instituting hiring goals to achieve parity in the hiring rates of white and minority applicants; adding equal employment opportunity compliance as a component in the performance evaluation system for management and supervisory personnel; and updating EEO policies and doing annual training on EEO issues for all employees.
These actions are based on a settlement agreement with the EEOC relating to a Commissioner’s Charge of Discrimination, alleging that Cabela’s failed to recruit and hire minorities.
