A Beatrice business was among five chosen by the Nebraska Business Development Center to highlight for national Small Business Week.

The NBDC said in a news release that Schuster’s Outdoor & RV in Beatrice is an excellent example of a growing business contributing employment to the community.

The company started as a small-engine repair shop and has since expanded to an 18,000-square-foot building where it sells and services ATVs, UTVs, large-capacity lawn mowers, golf carts and recreational vehicles. Owners Carla and Tim Schuster are pursuing government contracting with the assistance of NBDC.

Other businesses the NBDC chose to highlight this week were FarmAfield, an agriculture startup based in North Bend that allows people to invest in crops and livestock; Saunders Archery, a Columbus-based manufacturer of archery and other outdoor recreation equipment; Control Management Inc., an Omaha company that offers building automation solutions; and Kearney Glass.
