Allo Communications' long-awaited service debut in Lincoln was 2016's fifth-biggest business story.

Student finance company Nelnet bought Imperial-based Allo in November 2015 and announced that the company would bring high-speed internet up to 1 gigabit to Lincoln, along with digital TV and phone service.

After a several-month build-out period, Allo finally brought service to its first Lincoln customers in September and hopes to be citywide by 2019.
