Pete, Lincoln NE
About 14 years ago, Alida Ferguson faced the onset
of Alzheimer’s disease. Her son Pete and his family
were initially able to care for her, but as her disease
progressed, it became clear that Alida needed longterm, full-time care. Even when the caregiving
aspect became extremely challenging and difficult,
Pete, his sister and their families never felt like that
was something they had to shoulder alone because
of the resources and people they found.
Nearly 34,000 people in Nebraska and their families
face the destabilizing realities of Alzheimer’s
disease and related dementias every day. United
Way, CHAD and our combined 62 agencies are part
of the community helping individuals just like Pete.
You can be part of this community, too, because no
family should be made to face it alone.
