What went wrong: The Stampede scored three times in the third period in Sioux Falls to snap the Stars' three-game winning streak. Artem Ivanyuzhenkov scored an unassisted goal at 7 minutes, 16 seconds of the third period to put the Stampede ahead, then Adam Dawe added two more goals in less than three minutes to put Sioux Falls up 4-1. The teams combined for 17 penalties, including eight by the Stars for 26 minutes.

What went right: After a scoreless first period that featured a combined eight penalties, Sioux Falls took a 1-0 lead midway through the second period. Lincoln's Philippe Lapointe tied it a few minutes later on assists by Atte Tuliara and Dominick Mersch. Tristan Ashbrook scored the final goal for Lincoln at 14:18 in the third.
