Friday: Cedar Rapids 4, Lincoln 2
What went wrong: The Lincoln Stars tied the game twice in the third period, only for the RoughRiders to answer shortly after in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After Mason Klee tied the game 2-2 with a shorthanded goal for the Stars 11:08 into the third period, Cedar Rapids' Roman Ahcan tallied his first of the season to give the RoughRiders the lead for good. Cedar Rapids held a 1-0 lead through two periods of play before Eero Teravainen finally put the Stars on the board early in the third period. Marek Valach gave the lead back to Cedar Rapids with his third goal of the year 8:26 into the period. Cedar Rapids added another tally with 1:15 remaining to become the first to hand Stars' goaltender Tomas Vomacka a loss. Vomacka stopped 32 of 36 shots.
What went right: The Stars kept the self-inflicted wounds off the scoreboard, stopping all four Cedar Rapids power plays. Stars defensemen Teravainen and Klee each tallied their first goals of the season.
Next: The Stars travel back to Nebraska and will face the Tri-City Storm in Kearney at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
