Friday: Lincoln 7, Fargo 2.
What went right: The Stars took a big step toward clinching a playoff berth, scoring five straight goals in Fargo, North Dakota, to erase a 1-0 Force lead. After giving up a goal to Fargo in the first minute, Paul Cotter equalized in the 11th minute to start the scoring surge. Devlin McCabe and Carter Long scored in the second period, Josiah Slavin scored early in the third period, and Cotter's second score, a power-play goal at 7:27 of the third, put the Stars up 5-1. After Fargo scored midway through the third to make it 5-2, the Stars added insurance goals from Ashton Calder and Zach Dubinsky. Goalie Tomas Vomacka stopped 25 of the 27 shots he faced, including a penalty shot in the third period. Fargo had won six straight. The Stars improved to 10-1 in March.
What went wrong/right: John Schuldt put the Force up 1-0 just 59 seconds into the game.
Next: The Stars face the Force again in Fargo needing three points to clinch a playoff berth — a Lincoln win and a Sioux City loss would be enough. The game will be at 7 p.m. and broadcast on 1400 radio.
