Friday: Lincoln 5, Team USA U-17 3.

What went right: Playing in his 150th USHL game, Dominick Mersch scored a pair of goals to help Lincoln take a commanding 5-1 lead in Plymouth, Michigan, as the Stars snapped a 10-game win streak combined between the Team USA U-17 and U-18 squads in USHL play. Mersch opened the scoring 3:15 into regulation, and the Stars added tallies from Philippe Lapointe and Devlin McCabe in the first period to take a 3-1 lead. Tristan Ashbrook added an early second-period goal 2:06 into the frame, and Mersch scored his second midway through the period. What went wrong: After chasing Team USA starting goaltender Spencer Knight from the net, Lincoln was unable to get past Cameron Rowe as the home team crept back into the contest with a two-goal third period. Rowe  stopped all 16 shots he faced.
