WHAT HAPPENED: Lincoln 3, Fargo 2
WHAT WENT RIGHT: After allowing the first goal of the game, Lincoln scored just seven seconds later when Riley Bourbonnais picked up his fifth goal of the season. Tommy Schutt scored the lone second-period goal for Lincoln, giving him a three-game point streak. After Fargo tied the game in the third period, Phillip Marinaccio scored the go-ahead goal, giving him seven points in the past five games. ... Lincoln's Michael Bitzer saved 24 of 26 shots in goal, improving his record to 18-8-1. ... The Stars outshot Fargo 36-26, including 19-7 in the second period. ... Lincoln killed off both Fargo power plays. ... The Stars committed just four penalties.
WHAT WENT WRONG: Lincoln allowed an unassisted goal just more than five minutes into the first period. ... The Stars failed to score on two power plays. ... Despite taking 36 shots on goal, Lincoln scored only three times because of another solid performance by Cameron Johnson with 33 saves (Johnson saved 40 shots in Friday's game against Lincoln).
WORTH NOTING: With the win, and losses by Waterloo and Omaha, the Stars move up to third in the USHL Western Conference. There is sure to be more movement, with five points separating second place and fifth place as the playoff race heats up. The top four teams make the playoffs.
UP NEXT: Lincoln starts a two-game homestand Tuesday when it hosts last-place Sioux City.
