Former Lincoln Star Ryan Poehling was taken by the Montreal Canadiens with the 25th overall pick during Friday's NHL Draft.
Poehling recently finished his freshman season at St. Cloud State. The center represented the United States in the IIHF U18 World Championships.
Poehling had a brief run with the Stars during the 2015-16 season. He played in nine games, scoring two goals and two assists.
Some other players with Stars ties could hear their names called in the draft, including goaltenders Cayden Primeau and Josef Korenar.
