Friday: Lincoln 8, Sioux City 2
What went right: The Saltdogs set a season-high with five home runs in a blow out over the Explorers. Brent Dean started the slugfest in the second inning with his second blast of the season. Joe Robbins, who also hit a home run later in the game, gave Lincoln a 2-0 cushion with an RBI single in the second. Tommy Mendonca hit a two-run blast in the third to score Curt Smith, who homered in the seventh. Randolph Oduber rounded out the power surge with his team-leading 14th home run of the season. Shairon Martis also dominated on the mound limiting Sioux City to two hits through the first five innings.
What went wrong: Martis got into a jam as the Explorers cut into Lincoln's lead with two runs in the sixth inning to make it 5-2.
Streaks: The Saltdogs have now won three-straight games over Sioux City after starting out the season 0-5 against the Explorers.
Dog bytes: Christian Ibarra returned to the Saltdogs lineup after spending the last two weeks out with a hand injury. He finished 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Next: The teams play again Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
