Registration is now open for the 2016 Cornhusker State Games.
The schedule for most sports is July 15-24, and officials expect more than 12,000 participants. The games feature 68 sports at 62 venues in Lincoln, Omaha and surrounding communities.
All Nebraska athletes of all ages and abilities are eligible. Registration and information are available at CornhuskerStateGames.com. The final deadline to register is June 22, but athletes can save $3-5 per person if entered by the June 1 discount deadline. The CSG is also a qualifying event for the 2017 State Games of America, which are Aug. 3-6 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Opening Ceremonies are Friday, July 15 at Seacrest Field and auditions are currently being accepted for groups interested in singing the national anthem at the Ceremonies. The annual CSG Torch Run will be held June 6-21 over routes including Omaha, Scottsbluff, Bridgeport, Sidney, Ogallala, North Platte, Holdrege, Kearney, Hastings, Grand Island, Columbus, Norfolk, Seward and Lincoln.
