The Nebraska wrestling team just needed to get to the intermission to unleash its onslaught against West Virginia.
Three consecutive bonus-point wins gave the No. 13 Huskers breathing room en route to a 28-13 dual win over the Mountaineers on Saturday in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Following the intermission after the 174-pound match, in which WVU's Nick Kiussis earned a 7-1 decision over NU's Eric Engler to cut the Mountaineer deficit to 13-6, the Huskers got rolling in the upper weights.
Taylor Venz scored a 17-5 major decision at 184, Eric Schultz followed with a 22-5 technical fall at 197 pounds and heavyweight David Jensen added NU's first pin of the dual season, in 3 minutes, 17 seconds, to cap a 15-0 run.
West Virginia added a decision and major decision at 125 and 133, respectively, to close out the dual.
NU 149-pounder Colton McCrystal, ranked fifth, came back from an early deficit for a 6-4 decision. Husker 165-pounder Isaiah White, who is ranked 11th, also added a major decision.
Nebraska is next at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational in Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday, with action scheduled for 11 a.m. both days.
