CHICAGO -- The Nebraska women's basketball team was picked to win the Big Ten Conference according to two polls released at Big Ten Media Day on Thursday.
Nebraska, which returns four starters from last year's Sweet 16 team that won 25 games, was picked by both the coaches and the media. Penn State and Michigan State were picked second and third, respectively.
Nebraska senior forward Jordan Hooper was also picked to the Big Ten preseason first team by both coaches and media. Hooper, who has career averages of 17.2 points and 8.3 rebounds, was a unanimous selection by the coaches.
Penn State's Maggie Lucas was the coaches and media preseason player of the year.
