A pipeline to Kansas has provided the Nebraska women’s basketball team with two more coveted players for its 2015 recruiting class.
Lanie Page, sister of incoming freshman Kaylee Page, confirmed Monday via Twitter she has committed to the Huskers. The Page sisters are from Wamego, Kan., where they’re coached at Wamego High School by their father, Jim.
Lanie Page, a 6-foot-3 wing, joins Leavenworth, Kan., native Rachel Blackburn in the Huskers’ 2015 class. Blackburn, a 6-3 power forward, announced last week she’d committed to play at Nebraska.
Those two players give coach Connie Yori four players in NU's 2015 recruiting class, joining in-state players Jessica Shepard of Fremont and Maddie Simon of Lincoln Pius X.
Blackburn and the Page sisters play together on the same AAU team, and they helped their respective high schools to state championships this season – Wamego in Class 4A-Division I, and Leavenworth in Class 5A.
Kaylee Page, who joins the Huskers this summer, averaged 15.5 points and 7.2 rebounds, while Lanie averaged 17.1 points and 7.2 rebounds in helping the Raiders to the state championship.
ESPN ranks Lanie Page as the No. 36 recruit in the 2015 class.
The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association named both Kaylee Page and Lanie Page all-state first team in Class 4A-Division I, and Blackburn to honorable mention in Class 5A.
