Jacqueline Quade, Illinois: She had 15 kills as the Illini held on to win in five sets against Hawaii. Illinois won the first two sets, but then Hawaii won the next two. Illinois, coached by former Nebraska assistant coach Chris Tamas, won the fifth set 15-10.

Haleigh Washington, Penn State: The star middle blocker had 13 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in a four-set win against Howard. Howard stunned Penn State by winning the second set 25-22, but the final two sets weren’t close.

Saturday’s best

Northern Iowa at No. 8 Minnesota: Northern Iowa swept Dani Busboom Kelly’s Louisville Cardinals in the first round. Northern Iowa beat another top Big Ten Conference team this season when they beat Nebraska 3-1 in Omaha, and they’ll get the chance to do the same against the Gophers.

Western Kentucky at Kentucky: Nebraska fans are pulling for Western Kentucky to get the upset, which could give Nebraska a chance to host a regional next week. Western Kentucky beat Notre Dame 3-0 in the first round.
