Nebraska freshman Meghan Haggerty was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Monday as the league volleyball freshman of the week. Haggerty earned the award after helping Nebraska win the Ameritas Players Challenge with three victories last weekend.
She hit .600 as the Huskers beat Oklahoma and No. 19 Kentucky. She recorded an .818 hitting percentage against the Sooners, posting nine kills on 11 swings. Haggerty averaged 2.4 kills and 1.6 blocks per set over the weekend.
The award marks her second consecutive freshman of the week honor.
