Tenth-ranked Miami rebounded from a close loss for the doubles point to win three singles matches and claim a hard-fought 4-2 victory against No. 17 Nebraska in the first round of the ITA Women’s National Indoor Tennis Championships on Friday at Charlottesville, Va.

The Huskers (5-1) captured the doubles point to start the dual when their No. 1 duo of Mary Weatherholt and Patricia Veresova wiped out a 7-4 deficit to defeat Lina Lileitkite and Stephanie Wagner 8-7 in the decisive match. NU's Stefanie Weinstein and Janine Weinreich also won at No. 2 doubles.

Weatherholt then improved to 6-0 this season at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 7-6 win against Monique Albuquerque to give NU a 2-1 lead. Kelsey Laurente, Melissa Bolivar and Wagner, however, pulled out three-set victories at Nos. 2, 3 and 4 singles to give Miami the win.

The Hurricanes advance to Saturday's quarterfinals against second-ranked UCLA. Nebraska will play in the consolation bracket Saturday.
