Each week Husker Extra takes a look at athletes who have committed to or are being recruited by Nebraska.

Even without Husker recruit Johnny Stanton (6-2, 220, QB) – out for the season after knee surgery – Santa Margarita (Calif.) continues to win. The Eagles (6-0) shut out Anaheim Servite 21-0 in their first game without Stanton. It’s Santa Margarita’s first victory against its rival in seven years.

Recruit Nathan Gerry (6-2, 205, S) caught a 57-yard scoring pass on the first play from scrimmage to lead Sioux Falls (S.D.) Washington to a 52-8 victory against Yankton. The early score came on a play where quarterback Jon Handler recognized single coverage on Gerry.

“We’d watched film where we saw that if Nate had single coverage, Jon would audible to that play,” Washington coach Brian Hermanson told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. “It was a straight man-to-man on him.”

Recruit Josh Banderas (6-2, 215, LB) ran 23 times for 124 yards and three touchdowns to lead Lincoln Southwest  to a 34-23 victory against Norfolk. Fellow Husker recruit Christian Lacouture (6-5, 250, DT) missed the game because of an abdominal injury.

Prospect Aaron Cochran (6-8, 350, OT) earned a mention in a story from the Merced Sun Star after Buhach Colony (Calif.) took care of Turlock Pitman 28-7.

“BC's line, led by 6-foot-8, 350-pound Aaron Cochran, opened some huge holes for Stefon Gold (175 yards rushing and three touchdowns), Jayce Webster, Leon Miles and the other backs.”

Prospect Corey Clement (5-11, 205, RB), who visited Nebraska Sept. 1, ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns on just 14 carries as Glassboro (N.J.) rolled past Pittsgrove Schalick 39-10. Clement scored on runs of 18, 46 and 40 yards.

Prospect Delton Williams (6-2, 200, OLB), who totaled 206 yards and three touchdowns as Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep beat Erie McDowell 41-27, said his college decision comes down to Michigan State or West Virginia. He is expected to make his choice Tuesday.

Recruit Gabriel Miller (6-0, 235, LS) and his Penn High School teammates have won their past three Northern Indiana Conference games by a combined score of 130-25 after Friday’s 38-10 victory against South Bend St. Joseph. Penn is 7-1.

Prospect Dashon Hunt (5-9, 175, CB) scored on a 1-yard run in a 20-point first quarter as Westlake (Calif.) blitzed Simi Valley Royal 55-20.

Prospect Terrell Newby (5-10, 180, RB) rushed 29 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns as Chaminade College Prep of California got past Gardena Serra 28-20.

Prospect David Williams (6-1, 185, RB) scored two touchdowns as Imhotep Charter of Philadelphia shut out Delaware Valley Charter 34-0.
