Illinois basketball coach John Groce has hired former Illinois State assistant Paris Parham, according to the Champaign News-Gazette, meaning Ron Coleman won't be leaving Nebraska.
Coleman, director of player development for first-year NU coach Tim Miles, had interviewed for the position, with permission from Miles.
Coleman came with Miles from Colorado State, where he spent last season as an assistant coach. Coleman is a Chicago native with strong ties to the Chicago AAU scene.
Parham also has Chicago ties, having coached at Morgan Park High School and mentored AAU programs. He has more than 10 years of assistant coaching experience on the college level.
Last season was Coleman's first on the collegiate coaching level.
Coleman was also a candidate for an assistant coach opening earlier this spring at Illinois State.
