Nebraska parted ways with Mike Riley after three years as head coach. Here's some of fan, player and other reaction on Twitter.
I truly enjoyed my time here.— Keith Williams (@wideouts) November 26, 2017
Truly appreciate Coach Riley and the rest of the coaches
Appreciate all the love and support HuskerFamily.
And I definitely appreciate and love the 🦍👐🏾.. We'll always be in touch though . You know it's always
Unfortunately it’s about winning and not how good of a person these coaches are. Sometimes they don’t even get a chance to prove themselves #GBR— Keyshawn Johnson (@keyshawn) November 25, 2017
Thank you Coach Riley for never giving up on me and giving me the opportunity to play at the next level. You are truly a second father-figure to me. I can't wait to see what the future holds for you! #GBR pic.twitter.com/3A24PXPb65— Keyshawn Jr. (@keyshawnnnn) November 25, 2017
I am extremely thankful for these two. They gave me the opportunity of a lifetime and help mold me into the man I am today. From Academically illegible to Academic All Conference... from redshirt to blackshirt... Thank You Coach✊🏾 pic.twitter.com/kWiTeATOnn— MoBarry 7️⃣ (@BarrySwavey) November 25, 2017
Thank you. You trusted me, you believed in me, you cared about me. I cannot thank you enough for what you’ve done. Your class and character is something I strive to obtain everyday. I wish you a lifetime of happiness in the rest of your journey. Once again, thank you. GBR pic.twitter.com/zggym1N1Tk— Garrett Nelson (@gnelson763) November 25, 2017
I only got to interview Mike Riley one time but he seemed like a geniunely kind person and probably the nicest head coach I’ve ever met. I know winning is everything, but #Nebraska is losing a good one.— Max Massey (@MaxMasseyTV) November 25, 2017
Mike Riley fired at Nebraska & Chip Kelly signs with UCLA. Good morning everyone....— Trey Wallace (@TreyW_Radio) November 25, 2017

I may not have liked you as a coach, but I think you are a class act & genuine person. It's a shame that your beaming personality couldn't be translated to your coaching abilities. I wish you best of luck in your future endeavors, whatever they may be.
Mike Riley is fired in maybe the most unsurprising news of the day. The last three games sealed his fate. Nice guy and everything, but he got what he deserved. You can’t go 4-8 in Lincoln.— Louie Vaccher (@WildcatReport) November 25, 2017
Mike Riley to.....Oregon State. Hey it's been done before— Joseph Yun (@DuckinNoles247) November 25, 2017
So Mike Riley leaves Oregon State for Nebraska, opens door for Gary Andersen to leave Wisconsin and Bert is fired. Today Oregon State, Arkansas and Nebraska need new coaches, #Wisconsin plays for an undefeated regular season. Seems to work!— Zach Radue (@Radue3) November 25, 2017
Thank you to Mike Riley for being all class, and embracing Nebraska from the moment he arrived. I wish it would have worked out. I wish him nothing but the best in whatever comes next. #GBR— Jim wishes you a Merry Christmas! (@IMFletcher2) November 25, 2017
Honestly it is sad that Mike Riley was fired. People need to realize that it’s not just the coaching staff. He has so much class and handled the whole season/situation fairly well. Huskers have great fans that can turn salty real quick. We’ve gone through so many coaches lately.— Kylie Shoemaker (@kylieshoe13) November 25, 2017
Footnote to Mike Riley's firing at Nebraska: What does that mean for Keyshawn Johnson Jr's leave of absence?— Chase Goodbread (@ChaseGoodbread) November 25, 2017
Presumably the door was still open for a 2nd-chance return under Riley. Will new coach offer same?
Happy and sad to see Riley and staff go. Great people that handled this season wonderfully regarding the circumstances. College football is a business worth a lot of money. You have to win! Will it be Frost, Leach, someone else? #Huskers #GBR— Zach Potter (@ZachPotterTE) November 25, 2017
Everybody wanted Mike Riley dead, but now that he's fired they "have nothing but respect for him". Really?! Kinda like covering your tracks a bit 🤔 #Huskers— Jordan Stithem (@JStit_ATC) November 25, 2017
You were one of the first that gave me an opportunity to play at the Division 1 level..— KING (@_TheJoshuaMoore) November 25, 2017
You believed in me, and for that, I️ thank you. The most real, Genuine, person I’ve ever gotten the opportunity to meet.
It was a pleasure Coach Riley.
THANK YOU! pic.twitter.com/hgDRpl7h06
Thank you Coach Riley for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime! You are an incredible man and an even better coach. Would have been a dream to play for you! God bless you and your family! pic.twitter.com/xgJZDsjQXd— Tate Wildeman (@tatethegreat68) November 25, 2017
It was not the 3 years any of us wanted, but through highs and lows, the loss of #SF27 and a team that was hurting, Riley led with class and integrity. As a Nebraska fan, I will always be grateful and respect him for that. We all should. #Huskers— Amelia Breinig (@AmeliaBreinig) November 25, 2017
I enjoyed every conversation I had with you. I appreciate the example you set in the face of adversity. The men you lead will remember you long after their time at the university is over. I’m sorry it did not work out in Lincoln for you. Best of luck in your future endeavors.— Grant Wistrom (@GrantWistrom) November 25, 2017
Nothing but well wishes for this coaching staff, just like the last one. Thank you all for allowing me to chase a dream I've always had! God Bless and Go Big Red— Samuel Hahn (@daHAHNi) November 25, 2017
