So much for Jacob Hammond taking all five official visits and waiting until fall to decide on his future college.

The 6-foot-10, 230-pound center orally committed to Nebraska on Monday, giving men's basketball coach Tim Miles his first recruit of the 2014 class.

Hammond and his family visited Lincoln on Sunday and Monday, and his mother said in a brief phone conversation Monday night that her son was a Husker.

Hammond, a former Oklahoma commitment, had said last week he'd planned on taking his time before committing again, and would take his allotted five official visits.

I'll have more from Hammond later.

Nebraska now has one remaining spot for the 2014 class.
