New Nebraska head football coach Scott Frost has already earned plenty of recognition for his work in helping turn Central Florida around.

After leading the No. 10 Knights to a 12-0 mark, an American Athletic Conference championship and a Peach Bowl berth, he's also up for some prestigious awards.

Frost was named the Region 1 coach of the year by the American Football Coaches Association on Tuesday.

The other four regional winners were Georgia's Kirby Smart (Region 2), Wisconsin's Paul Chryst (Region 3), Iowa State's Matt Campbell (Region 4) and Fresno State's Jeff Tedford (Region 5).

Frost is also one of eight finalists for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award.

That award is given annually by the Football Writers Association of America and will be announced later this month.
