Caught up with former Husker great Dave Rimington (1979-82).
We talked mostly about the Rimington Trophy, presented annually in Lincoln to the nation's top center.
I also had to ask Rimington if he had any interest in becoming Nebraska's athletic director before Shawn Eichorst was hired in October.
Rimington since 1995 has served as president of the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
"I don't know that I would ever want to go back to Nebraska (as an A.D.) without having some experience beforehand," he said. "I was interested, sure. Was I ready? I don't know if I was ready or not.
"I believe in myself, so I think, 'Yeah, sure, I could do it.' But I think Nebraska deserves better than a guy who's never done it before."
There will be much more from Dave in a Thursday column.
