Boys State Swimming Prelims, 2/24/17

Lincoln has seven swimmers competing at the Winter Junior Championships in Iowa City this week. The event started Wednesday and runs through Saturday.

Here is a look at who is competing:

Caroline Theil, Lincoln Pius X (Greater Nebraska Swim Team): 200 IM, 400 IM, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 breaststroke.

Alana Palmer, Lincoln Southwest (Lincoln Select): 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke.

Berkeley Livingston, Lincoln Southwest (Lincoln Select): 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly.

Katie Stonehocker, Lincoln Pius X (Lincoln Select): 200 IM, 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke.

Alex Petty, Lincoln East (Lincoln Select): 200 breaststroke, 100 breaststroke.

Kaitlyn Witt, Lincoln Southwest (GNST): 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke.

Chas Nolte, Lincoln Southwest (Heartland Aquatics): 100 breaststroke.

On Thursday, Theil finished 14th out of more than 180 swimmers in the girls 200-yard individual medley. Theil finished in 2 minutes, 0:52 seconds. Livingston finished with the 55th fastest time in the event (2:04.03), and Stonehocker finished in 2:08.67.

Livingston had an impressive showing in the 500 freestyle time trials. Her time of 4:56.87 was the second-fastest time of the time trials event. The junior won a state title in the 500 free last season.

Palmer competed in the 50 freestyle Thursday, finishing with the 37th fastest time (:23.31).

Iowa City is hosting the West regional part of the junior championship event.
