JOHNSON -- Clint Damme took top billing in the Johnson-Brock football show Wednesday in the second round of the Class D-1 state football playoffs.

The junior running back scored four touchdowns and ran for 232 yards to lead No. 7 Johnson-Brock to a dizzying 58-20 victory against No. 6 Shelby before some 1,000 fans.

"It's all up front with our line and after that it's a matter of finding the weapon that works," Damme said. "Last week, when we beat Clarkson in the first round, our quarterback, Grahm Butler, ran for five touchdowns and passed for another. This week, I got the touchdowns. Next time, probably Tyler Huey or somebody else.

"We just go get it done and nobody thinks we can do it. So we get a little attitude and try our best to make them wrong about us."

Johnson-Brock (10-0) blasted away on its first play of the game, as Damme scored on a 48-yard run. Seven minutes later, Johnson-Brock quarterback Butler hit Mason Pelchat on a 13-yard touchdown pass.

The Eagles showed plenty on defense, too.

Pelchat and Butler each intercepted a Shelby pass in the first quarter and Johnson-Brock limited the Huskies, who averaged 50 points a game in their last six outings, to one first-half score. By then, Butler scored on a quarterback sneak and Damme scored on a 3-yard run to build a 32-6 halftime lead.

"We didn't expect Damme to be that tough on offense," said Shelby coach Jerald Humlicek, whose team finished 8-2. "He didn't show up on the films we saw. It was their quarterback and other guys. Then, he (Damme) runs around us on the first play and never stopped the rest of the night. They have a great line and their backs are some of the best we've seen."

Johnson-Brock finished with 448 yards of offense, including 350 on the ground, while Shelby closed with 358 yards.

"Shelby was a lot bigger than us, and people said we hadn't played anybody like they had to play all year," said Johnson-Brock coach Brett Davis. "But they've been saying we haven't faced anybody all year. I thought our defense, with our linebackers and defensive ends shifting a lot, were confusing to Shelby and I thought our offense was really on top of things."
