East pulls away from Thunderbolts

Jordan Janssen led the Class A No. 3 Lincoln East with 25 points as the Spartans kicked on the afterburners in the third quarter of a 63-50 win over Lincoln Pius X on Saturday. East held a 30-27 lead over No. 10 Pius X at the half. The Spartans outscored the Bolts 16-6 in the third, hitting three of their five three-pointers to cruise to the victory. Sam Griesel scored 19 and Connor Riekenberg finished with 14. Riekenberg hit four three-pointers, including two in the third quarter and three total in the second half. Charley Easley led Pius X with 28 points and finished 7-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Papillion-La Vista 61, Lincoln Southeast 57: The Monarchs hit some big shots, rebounded better and made their free throws to erase a six-point deficit to start the fourth quarter. The Knights were able to build the early lead behind double-doubles from both Michael Anderson (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Jack Strong (12 points, 10 rebounds). Peyton Priest led Papillion-La Vista with a game-high 23 points while adding seven rebounds, and Caleb Feekin had 13 points.

Lincoln High 63, Papillion-La Vista 48: Lincoln High put the game away with 22 points in the fourth quarter. Morgan Perry scored 16 points to lead the way, and Jaden Horton added 15 points.

Lincoln North Star 77, Lincoln Northeast 46: The Gators rebounded from their season-opening loss Thursday and put together a strong offensive effort. Dillon Brandt scored a game-high 18 points.

Lincoln Christian 59, Freeman 46: Justin Bubak scored 14 points to lead the Class C-1 No. 10 Crusaders and Caleb Canfield finished with 13, hitting three three-pointers.

Omaha Gross 50, Lincoln Lutheran 42: Omaha Gross only scored three points in the first quarter, but finished strong with 22 in the fourth. Kyle Sweeney scored 13 points to lead the way. Jacob Glines and Logan Kreizel each finished with 14 points for Lutheran.

College View 50, Cornerstone Christian 33: Daniel Klein led College View with 20 points and Derek Bock also chipped in nine points for the Eagles.

Elmwood-Murdock 79, Parkview Christian 61: Wes Dreamer scored 42 points for Class C-2 No. 4 Elmwood-Murdock while Rashad Woods had 33 points for Class D-2 No. 6 Parkview Christian.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lincoln High 61, Papillion-La Vista South 55: NaTayah Wilson had 18 points to lead three Links in double figures.

Lincoln Northeast 82, Lincoln North Star 32: McKenna Minter had a triple-double with 14 points, 10 assists and 10 steals for Class A No. 3 Northeast. Kaysia Woods had 23 points, including 18 in the first half.

Papillion-La Vista 71, Lincoln Southeast 38: The Monarchs had 10 players score in a balanced attack. Cassie Nash scored nine points to lead the Knights.

Lincoln Christian 60, Freeman 23: Chloe Dworak led the Class C-1 No. 1 Crusaders with 25 points and Olivia Hollenbeck added 12 en route to a 37-point victory.

College View 44, Cornerstone Christian 7: Caitlynn Davis scored 15 points to lead the way for College View.

Omaha Gross 47, Lincoln Lutheran 46: Gretchen Moll scored 15 points to lead the C-1 No. 7 Warriors and Mackenzie Koepke added 10.
