Stadium information: Gates open at 12:30 p.m.

THE LINCOLN JOURNAL STAR | Posted: Thursday, August 31, 2006 7:00 pm

Because of all the changes at Memorial Stadium — 6,500 new seats on the north end, new disabled seating areas, new video screen, new concession stands, etc. — stadium gates for today’s season opener will open 30 minutes earlier than normal to give fans extra time to get in and check out the new features. Gates will open today at 12:30 p.m. For remaining home games, gates will open 1½ hours before kickoff.

Express lanes will be in effect at stadium gates again this season and fans are encouraged to travel light. Ticket-holders who are not carrying items that are subject to inspection (purses, fanny packs, camera bags and water bottles) can use the express lanes. Fans carrying such items must use the other lanes.

Also note:

* The Husker Nation Pavilion, at Ed Weir Track, will open 3 hours prior to kickoff.

* The ticket office generally opens 4 hours prior to kickoff.

* The following items are prohibited in Memorial Stadium: Glass, cans, coolers, thermoses, backpacks, video cameras, umbrellas and pets. Plastic water bottles are permitted but may be inspected.
