Andy Christensen, arrested on suspicion of sexual assault at a downtown bar last weekend, had his percentage bond reduced by $200,000 in Lancaster County Court on Thursday.

The Nebraska senior offensive lineman has been out of jail since  Tuesday, when 10 percent of his $500,000 bond was posted.

On Thursday, prosecutors charged him on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault, which carries a possible one- to 50-year prison sentence.

Christensen was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior at a downtown bar and resisting arrest.

The 23-year-old alleged victim says Christensen approached her at the Brass Rail, 1436 O St. When she turned away from him, she says, he reached under her skirt and assaulted her.

On Saturday, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini suspended Christensen from the team indefinitely.

Seward County Judge Gerald Rouse presided over the hearing Thursday and agreed to reduce Christensen’s bond to $300,000, the amount the state’s attorney originally sought in the case.

Christensen was quiet, with his hands in his pockets, during the hearing. His parents, Don and Denise Christensen of Bennington, watched and sobbed.

He next is set to appear for a docket call April 10.
