Dan Titchener, NU punter

The sophomore from Cheyenne, Wyo., put a first-quarter punt out of bounds at the K-State 2-yard line. He had another one downed at the Cats’ 8 in the third quarter. The yards-per-punt stat (38.1) does not do justice to Titchener’s night.

Jake Wesch, NU kick holder

First Dan Titchener, now Wesch. Anyone else on special teams want to throw the football? Titchener did it at USC, but Wesch’s toss to Hunter Teafatiller on the fake field goal was huge. It resulted in a touchdown on Nebraska’s first possession, giving the Huskers all the points they would need.

Ola Dagunduro, NU defensive lineman

Perhaps Sipple just likes the sound of Ndamukong Suh’s name. All I know is I saw Dagunduro moving the pile early and often … and quite frankly, after the way the interior line controlled things in the early going, it was easy to get distracted. So to be fair, maybe I should combine my vote and make it for Ola Suh. I like the sound of that.

Ndamukong Suh, NU nose tackle

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound sophomore made his presence known in the first quarter, stopping Leon Patton behind the line on back-to-back runs. He later pounded Josh Freeman to the turf for a 14-yard sack, and capped his night with an interception. Big man, big night, and many big nights to come.

— Steven M. Sipple
